“Just Do It Paul, Jump. You Will Finally Be Free”

Around 2014, I was running a very successful, growing digital agency. It was considered 1 of the pioneers in the field of “conversion rate optimisation” or CRO. It was called PRWD.

I was earning around £100k a year. I was married with 2 children, and we were living in a beautiful family home and were driving a brand new £55,000 Land Rover Discovery.

I was living a “picture perfect” life.

My agency had been invited to become the UK representative in the “Global Conversion Alliance”, a small group of industry leading agencies from across the earth.

Once a year the owners of the agencies met together for around 5 days.

The 2nd year, the annual gathering was in Vancouver. My 2 German associates were going to fly over, and they asked if I would like to stay in a hotel with them. This made sense, and a few days later Andre emailed me with a link to an Airbnb apartment.

It was an eye-opening, spectacular, luxury apartment in one of the high rise apartment blocks in the centre of Vancouver.

It would cost the 3 of us around £200 each per night, so around £1000 each. With the growing revenue of my agency and my incredible income, I didn’t hesitate in giving my approval to book the apartment.

When the time came I flew over to Vancouver and met my German associates at the apartment. It was more spectacular than the photos. Andre told me had asked the owner how much would his apartment be to buy.

Around $1.5m.

A few days in to the annual gathering, my 2 German associates & I were stood on our balcony admiring the beautiful views of the Vancouver mountains.

Our apartment was around 24 stories high.

After some time of talking and admiring the spectacular views, my 2 German associates went in to prepare for us heading out.

As I was stood on the balcony, all of a sudden that dark, destructive voice that had been tormenting me since i was around 19 years of age, whispered to me:

“Just do it Paul, jump”.

I was filled with absolute terror. My whole body froze.

“Just do it Paul, jump”.

Gripped with terror, I slowly walked to the edge of the balcony. I put my hands on the balcony rail, and slowly lent forward to look down to the streets of Vancouver below.

I could see vehicles driving along. There were about 1cms. in length, due to how high up we were.

I was absolutely terrified.

Once again that voice said to me:

“Just do it Paul, jump. There is no other way. You will finally be free”.

On that balcony in Vancouver, ready to jump to my death and leave behind my wife and 2 young children, Jesus saved my life.

I didn’t pray or cry out to Jesus to save me, but Jesus did save me, as the Word of God tells us that He knew us before we were born, that every day of our life is written in His book, & that every moment of our lives was laid out before a single day had passed.

You are chosen and not forsaken.

Agape, Paul
